IFSCA Registration Support

From category mapping to the certificate of registration — one team handling your IFSCA application and SEZ unit approval together.

How it works

One team, both approvals

IFSCA registration and SEZ unit approval are sequenced together so neither blocks the other.

Category mapping & eligibility

We map your activity to the right IFSCA category and sub-category, and confirm net worth, KMP and shareholding eligibility before you spend on filings.

Application & documentation

Business plan, policies, KMP profiles and the application itself — prepared, reviewed and filed, with the SEZ unit approval running in parallel.

Queries to certificate

We handle IFSCA queries and follow-ups until in-principle approval and the final certificate of registration, then hand over a live compliance calendar.

Common questions

Before you apply

Which IFSCA registration category applies to my business?

It depends on the activity, not the company name. Banking, fund management, capital market intermediation, finance company, insurance, payments, BATF and ancillary services each sit under a different IFSCA framework with different eligibility tests. We map your activity to the correct category and sub-category before anything is filed.

Do I need SEZ unit approval as well as IFSCA registration?

Yes, in almost every case. A GIFT IFSC unit needs a Letter of Approval from the Development Commissioner under the SEZ Act in addition to the IFSCA registration or authorisation. The two run in parallel and we sequence both so neither blocks the other.

What documents does an IFSCA application usually need?

A business plan covering the proposed activity and revenue model, details of promoters and shareholding, net-worth or owned-fund evidence, key managerial personnel profiles, and policy documents such as AML/CFT, risk management and outsourcing — the exact set varies by category.

What happens if IFSCA raises queries on the application?

Queries are normal and expected. We draft the responses, align them with the business plan already on file, and track the application until in-principle approval and then the final certificate of registration.

Can a foreign company apply, or does it need an Indian entity?

Both routes exist. Many categories permit a branch-style unit of a foreign entity, while others work better as an Indian-incorporated company or LLP in the IFSC. The right structure depends on the category, tax position and the parent group's regulation.

What happens after the registration is granted?

Registration is the start, not the finish. The unit then has periodic returns, registration conditions, AML/KYC obligations and SEZ compliance to maintain — our ongoing compliance practice takes over from there if you want a single team.
